This piece combines two of the artist's favourite colours, Bright orange and dark greenish blue that compliment each other, yet at the same time create a great contract. The white in the Sky adds the connection and smooths the contrast of the orange and blue, creating a misty feel to the painting, yet preserving the original colours, texture and look.
To paint this bright and deep piece, I used various acrylic mediums, including hard and soft gels, coarse pumice, sand, sea water (original addition, as its a paining of a water fall, and it helps I live close to the Kent Coast), as well as some fibre medium, all mixed with paint to add the 3D look and texture.
When I paint. I have an approximate idea or what I want to paint, but mostly, Just a memory in my head. I then start experimenting on canvas and the image just appears without too much thought. I find that when I focus too much on something, it tends to go wrong, so I let imagination and creativity lead me.
I hope you like and value the painting as much as I do.
